The awe-effect. We all have it. We’re all in awe of someone we are inspired or driven by. Someone we wish we could be like, act like, create like or achieve like. How healthy is that for your own mental well-being? It’s healthy only to a point. Remember something in your life you never thought you’d be able to achieve. It could be anything like learning how to drive a car. Now you do it unconsciously, competently without much concentration into the co-ordination that is involved right? Holding someone in high regard only gets you so far. No one is going to get you to that preferred level without effort, determination or willpower and the deep, intimate connection you feel for what you desire. It is only going to come from one point of source; YOU. The only difference between you and the person you’ve placed on a pedestal is they did something out of the ordinary to get where they are. They never lose sight of the goal post and they continuously push themselves in the power of their own vision and expectations of excellence. They may not say things you appreciate at times but those pint-sized uncomfortable corners you find yourself in are the very seeds you need sown to bear the fruits of your own striving. Do not minimise your own worth or power in the process of your own thinking that you’ll never get to where your ‘hero’ is. You, as much as anyone, deserve a shot at transporting your dreams into your very own emerging reality. Be your own hero instead of allowing the wonder you hold for someone else’s achievements to hold you back. Step into your own shoes and walk the path that only your authentic self can without imitating what you think the world is going to love. It’s all been done before, find a creative way to make it seem like it hasn’t. I say this to you as much as I say this to myself. Get your unique on!
How I see it...
I see, speak and write in metaphors because I feel there is much we can learn from nature, people and our surroundings as depicted in my photographs and why I enjoy sharing my thoughts. Not in any attempt to convince or convert you to my way of thinking, seeing or feeling but to share how I see and experience MY mind map of the world. You at no time have to agree, all I ask is that my views and the views of others who wish to express theirs are kindly respected. So relax, get comfy and just enjoy. Happy reading!
